beagle ben in the kitchen

beagle ben in the kitchen

Whenever my wife or I are in the kitchen cooking, Ben makes it known that he is interested in what we are making. He lays in front of the refrigerator door, making his presence known to all. Although we do not feed him table scraps, his nose will always get the best of him and lead him to this spot, where his vantage point is like none other. Enjoy! -Genaro

why trash the dress???

Why would someone trash their dress. I mean trash it. Get it filthy. Get it wet. Roll around in mud. Drench it in a lake or ocean. Just totally wreck it.

Why you say? I say...why not? You have already taken that leap and made the promise to your husband. He's your soulmate and you will be together forever, right? Then, I do not see you needing this dress ever again. And, as much as you like to think so, your daughter will more than likely wear something else on their wedding day that reflects the times, 20 or 30 years down the road.

So here are your options:
1. Wrap in plastic, stick it in a closet, and let it wither away from suffocation.
2. Show the one you love how into your marriage you are, how committed you are, and how fun you are by challenging yourself to create great images, all while having fun in doing so.

philadelphia photo walk update

The walk will begin at LOVE Park (JFK Plaza), across the street from Philadelphia City Hall. We will meander around City Hall, down the Avenue of the Arts towards the Kimmel Center. At this point, we will proceed west through the residential neighborhoods of Rittenhouse Square, towards the banks of the Schuylkill River. There are some good views along this area of the Schuylkill. From here we will begin our journey back towards Rittenhouse Square, where we will conclude the photo walk.

The after-walk gathering will take place in Rittenhouse Square. Here, we will have a picnic lunch. It’s BYOF (bring your own food). From my experience, it is a simple fact that not everyone will stick around for the after-walk gathering. Knowing this, I chose Rittenhouse Square because it is a big enough locale to accommodate a large group and within proximity to various eateries for your own convenience. Also, for those who did not plan on eating or are on a budget, this would free everyone up to be able to stick around and enjoy the company of 50 of your new found photographer friends.

skater in LOVE park

skater in LOVE park

This past weekend, while mapping out the Philadelphia leg of the Worldwide Photo Walk, I happened up a group of skaters in LOVE Park (the starting point of our walk). This is a very populated park, LOVE Park in Philadelphia. There were people everywhere. But, that did not stop these guys from having a blast with the many concrete obstacles around the park. Weaving through and around people, I set myself up to capture some of the jumps being made by these guys. I will, definitely, be back. Maybe, next time I will lug around a small hotshoe flash for some off-camera lighting shots. Enjoy! -Genaro

in-camera B&W

Lately, I have been shooting some in-camera black and whites, utilizing the B&W setting on my Panasonic Lumix LX3 point-and-shoot. I have to say that the experience has opened me to seeing things in a new light...literally. To challenge myself to see only in light, and not color, was the most daunting task. I look forward to continuing on with this self-challenge, and bettering myself as I go along. Take care. -Genaro
